I'm particularly proud of the story that appears in this edition of The Madrid Review. ‘The World Plus the Work’ is about obsession specifically, and art and obsession more broadly, culminating in an art heist at the home of film director Pedro Almodóvar. In 2018, the World Book Night United Artists issued an invitation to read and respond to the short story ‘Watching God’ by China Miéville. There were many ways in which readers could respond to the text, through word or image, bookbinding, or even raft building.
